Thai Massage: Loving Kindness Through Touch

The best explanation of thai massage that I’ve heard is loving kindness through touch.  This form of bodywork combines ancient wisdom with positive intentions to create relaxation and healing that transcends just the physical body.  The common adage, ‘Treat people, not symptoms in people‘ sums up the approach to this holistic practice.  Touch with awareness and compassion can be a powerful medicine, similar to food cooked with love.  My goal is to spread this connection of loving kindness and the wisdom I have gained from my studies in the East back here to the West.

Thai yoga massage in Baltimore with Chris Sakowski

Thai massage focuses on opening energy blocks within the body to promote relaxation and healing.  The combination of static and dynamic movements, stretching and compression, acupressure points, body harmonics, and transmitting positive intentions stimulates the flow of energy following the body’s natural energy lines.  Therapeutic thai massage aims to treat the root cause of imbalances in the body in addition to relieving tension.  Each massage is tailored to individual’s specific needs and becomes a meditative experience for both the giver and receiver.

Please check out my post here for more details about the practice of thai massage.  The video below shows a small sample of some of the techniques used in thai massage.

*I am currently giving treatments and workshops around India and will be in Asia until April.  If you’re in the Baltimore area and looking for a treatment I recommend contacting my friend Christy Thorndill who has an amazing touch and many years of experience at yogachristy@yahoo.com (Tell her Chris sent you, she’s great!)*

About Me

Chris Sakowski is a thai yoga massage practitioner and yoga teacher in Baltimore

Hello!  My name is Chris Sakowski and I am a strong believer in the healing power of touch and good intentions.  I have spent the past five years traveling the world leading yoga teacher training courses and thai massage workshops (and continuing to be a student myself).  I am a member of THAI, the Thai Healing Alliance International, and have completed 350 hours of cumulative training at the Thai Massage School Shivagakomarpaj and Sunshine Thai Massage Network schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  (Much gratitude to all my teachers, especially Till Heeg and Laurino!)  I am also a 500 hour certified yoga teacher and lead yoga teacher trainings around the world (I completed my trainings at Sampoorna Yoa in Goa, India), and a Reiki Level II practitioner.  (I am also avaible for reiki sessions upon request!)  I love to make music, explore nature and new cultures, go on adventures, and spread my passions with others.

Keep posted to this space to check out future workshops in the US and abroad, updates on the progress of my book aimed at synthesizing yoga and anatomy for your unique body, and upcoming footage from my presentations at the Global Yoga Festival in Kerala, India earlier this year!

  1. Chris is incredible! I’ve suffered from various aches and pains through out my body and his methods have worked wonders. I highly recommend asking for the minty face oil ( not it’s proper name) when getting the head massage.

  2. I was lucky enough to receive a massage from Chris after his first trip to Thailand. As one of his friends, I was excited to exploit his newly learned talent. Despite my impromptu request, Chris was incredibly professional and giving offering his healing energy. I thought I knew what to expect, having received countless Swedish massages before, but the combination of acupressure and stretching surprised and transported me into a deep relaxation very quickly. I cannot wait to book an appointment and receive the full experience of Thai Massage.

  3. I consider myself fortunate to have been given multiple Thai massages from Chris during our training together. He approaches the body with incredible clarity, care and compassion, always creating a safe and comfortable environment. Thai massage is a beautiful healing practice of sharing and connection and I am so honored to have shared and learned from such a great friend and master.

  4. From the first to the last trust, there is a complete feeling of trust. You can feel his loving intentions flowing from his heart through to his fingertips. There is no doubt you will feel a positive difference in your overall sense of well being after receiving a massage from Chris!

  5. I recently got to experience one of Chris’ wonderful massages and highly recommend them! After receiving various Thai massages in Thailand, I’d have to say that this one was my favorite, as Chris makes you feel completely comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process and incorporates very effective stretching into the complete body massage that’ll leave you feeling more energetic and limber.

  6. Thai massage is really something beautiful when experienced from a caring and mindful practitioner. I would tell anyone who is in the area to check Chris out. We attended a couple of massage workshops together and from the first exchange you can feel the intention and care he put into his work.

Chris i’m so happy your giving more massage, i cant wait to cross paths again 😉

  7. Chris is great at Thai Massage, because he truly intends to heal through his work. I have received plenty of traditional massage and nothing comes close to Chris’s Thai Massage. Thanks for the exceptional experience.
