Thai Massage: Loving Kindness Through Touch
The best explanation of thai massage that I’ve heard is loving kindness through touch. This form of bodywork combines ancient wisdom with positive intentions to create relaxation and healing that transcends just the physical body. The common adage, ‘Treat people, not symptoms in people‘ sums up the approach to this holistic practice. Touch with awareness and compassion can be a powerful medicine, similar to food cooked with love. My goal is to spread this connection of loving kindness and the wisdom I have gained from my studies in the East back here to the West.
Thai massage focuses on opening energy blocks within the body to promote relaxation and healing. The combination of static and dynamic movements, stretching and compression, acupressure points, body harmonics, and transmitting positive intentions stimulates the flow of energy following the body’s natural energy lines. Therapeutic thai massage aims to treat the root cause of imbalances in the body in addition to relieving tension. Each massage is tailored to individual’s specific needs and becomes a meditative experience for both the giver and receiver.
Please check out my post here for more details about the practice of thai massage. The video below shows a small sample of some of the techniques used in thai massage.
*I am currently giving treatments and workshops around India and will be in Asia until April. If you’re in the Baltimore area and looking for a treatment I recommend contacting my friend Christy Thorndill who has an amazing touch and many years of experience at firstname.lastname@example.org (Tell her Chris sent you, she’s great!)*
Hello! My name is Chris Sakowski and I am a strong believer in the healing power of touch and good intentions. I have spent the past five years traveling the world leading yoga teacher training courses and thai massage workshops (and continuing to be a student myself). I am a member of THAI, the Thai Healing Alliance International, and have completed 350 hours of cumulative training at the Thai Massage School Shivagakomarpaj and Sunshine Thai Massage Network schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand. (Much gratitude to all my teachers, especially Till Heeg and Laurino!) I am also a 500 hour certified yoga teacher and lead yoga teacher trainings around the world (I completed my trainings at Sampoorna Yoa in Goa, India), and a Reiki Level II practitioner. (I am also avaible for reiki sessions upon request!) I love to make music, explore nature and new cultures, go on adventures, and spread my passions with others.
Keep posted to this space to check out future workshops in the US and abroad, updates on the progress of my book aimed at synthesizing yoga and anatomy for your unique body, and upcoming footage from my presentations at the Global Yoga Festival in Kerala, India earlier this year!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or to set up a treatment.
