Every human being contains an innate capacity for healing. Through Thai bodywork we aim to share loving kindness through touch to create an environment in which that healing power can flourish.
Join Chris Sakowski for a comprehensive introduction to the ancient practice of Thai bodywork. We will explore many different techniques to improve mobility, relieve stress and tension, and connect with both our own and other people's energy. When Thai bodywork is practiced with awareness it becomes a meditative dance for both the giver and receiver with minimal effort.

What We'll Learn:

-
Assisted stretches to promote mobility
-
How to effectively use your hands, elbows, knees, and feet to massage
-
How to use gravity to make your movements efficient and sustainable (& how to avoid tiring yourself out during massage)
-
Basic anatomy and understanding of the mechanical functioning of the body
-
Acupressure points, dynamic rocking techniques, and compressions to encourage energy flow
-
The basic energetic system according to Thai medicine and modern fascial connections
-
How to massage in different positions: supine, prone, seated, and side position
-
How to transmit loving kindness through touch
By the end of the course you will have the tools to give an effective 1.5hr+ treatment that covers the whole body. Each day will start with a connection exercise and mantra to invoke the four Buddhist principles of loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. Throughout the course we will learn new techniques and revisit prior techniques to refine our touch and understanding with plenty of time for practice and personal instruction. On the last day students will get the opportunity to give a full 1.5hr treatment under the close supervision of Chris and assisting teachers.
It is an honor to share this amazing practice with anyone who feels called to embark on this journey. This course is highly recommended for yoga teachers and other movement professionals to advance their knowledge of the human body on a holistic level and their sense of touch, as well as for anyone who wants to be of service to others by promoting health, happiness, and peace.
